Gall Bladder Stones Treatment
Gallstones are a common surgical condition with severe pain due to the formation of stones in the gallbladder, which could be due to many reasons, including poor gallbladder functioning. Medintu helps you get world-class and best-in-India treatment for gallstones with expert surgeons in the field and minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery treatment. As long as they are asymptomatic, gallstones can wait and be treated electively. However, if there is pain, vomiting, fever, or abdominal tenderness due to stones, the doctor may suggest the removal of the gallbladder. The laparoscopic gallbladder removal surgery is a keyhole surgery and is minimally invasive.
The surgeon performs the surgery under general anesthesia and makes a small keyhole incision in the abdomen. Through these keyholes called ports, laparoscopic instruments are placed, and the abdomen is inflated with CO2 to get a good field view. The surgeon then identifies the gallbladder and dissects and removes it through one of the ports. The CO2 is then let out through one of the ports and then the ports are closed. The gallbladder and the stones are then sent for a histopathology examination. The surgery takes 2 hours, including the pre and post-operative procedures.

How are Gall Stones Diagnosed?
The doctor will first take a history of your pain and any previous history of similar complaints. Following this, a proper physical examination is done to look for signs and symptoms of the disease. The doctor may check for signs of jaundice or any tenderness in your abdomen. The doctor then prescribes certain medical investigations like blood tests for a surgical profile and radiographic investigations like ultrasound to look for possible blockages in the bile duct. Based on the above test ultrasound results, the doctor may also carry out CT abdomen scans, MRI abdomen scans, HIDA scans, and procedures like ERCP.
