  1. Phacoemulsification: in this surgery, the lens is emulsified with the help of ultrasound, and the lens material is removed with the help of suction. A new compatible lens is then put in its place. This can be done via a small incision near the limbus, known as the small incision cataract surgery.
  2. Femtosecond laser surgery: a computer-regulated laser technique that helps cut and remove the cataractous lens and put an intraocular lens in its place.
  3. Extracapsular cataract surgery is in which a large incision is given through the limbus, the lens is removed as a whole from the lens capsule, and an intraocular lens is injected in its place.
  4. Intracapsular cataract extraction: The lens and capsule are removed via a single incision, and an anterior chamber lens is placed on the iris. This procedure can cause several side effects and is best avoided.
