What made you decide to pursue oncology as a profession?
The strong desire to actually improve the lives of those suffering from cancer motivated me to pursue a career in oncology. I became passionate in medical oncology after seeing patients’ bravery and resiliency along with scientific advances in the field.
How would you go about caring for patients?
A central tenet of my work is patient-centered treatment. For the duration of the treatment process, I think it’s important to promote open communication, empathy, and all-encompassing support. I design treatment programmes to meet the specific needs and preferences of each patient because they are all individuals.
Which novel treatments interest you?
Innovations like targeted medications and immunotherapy excite me. Advances in cancer treatment are providing better outcomes with fewer side effects.
How do you provide emotional support to patients and their families?
Emotionally, cancer is hard to cope with. To make sure that everyone feels supported along the way, I put a lot of effort into providing support, sharing resources, and promoting candid conversations to address worries and concerns.
