What are the main types of Diabetes Mellitus?
Type 1 diabetes – It is an autoimmune disease. The pancreas fails to produce insulin due to beta cells (insulin-producing cells) disorder. Type 1 diabetes is observed in children and young adults. Gestational diabetes (GD) – It is a type of diabetes observed only during pregnancy. A healthy diet and regular exercises can help to manage GD, but some mothers need insulin. If not treated, gestational diabetes can cause health problems for both mother and the baby.
