The Covid-19 samples are collected from the Nasopharyngeal Swab (Nose) or an Oropharyngeal Swab (Throat).

Our sample collecting expert follows all the safety protocols like: 

• wearing an N-95 mask, 
• wearing gloves, 
• wearing a Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) kit, 
• Using Fresh test kits.

Sample Swab Collection through Throat

• First, tilt the patient’s head slowly and keep their chin steady. Then the patient needs to open the mouth as wide as possible. 
• A tongue depressor is used to depress the patient’s tongue, which allows for a complete examination of the mouth and throat. 
•  Then a clean swab can be extracted thoroughly from the tonsils and posterior part of the pharynx in a rotating motion.

Sample Swab Collection through Nasal

•  First, tilt the patient’s head slowly, and keep the chin steady in a resting position. 
• Next, the swab will be inserted in the nose parallel to the roof of the mouth till nasal turbinates. Twirl the swab for a few seconds while removing it in a rotating mode. 

From both the procedures, swab test samples are placed in a tube that contains VTM (Viral Transport Medium) after labeling the patient details like age, gender, and name, UHID. 

After the sample collection and storage, the samples are handed over to the ICMR certified Laboratory. Medintu will provide test reports within 24 hours through an Email, or you will be given a physical report (if needed).
